    B.Sc. in Artificial Intelligence

    Program Objectives

    The expected accomplishments of graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence (AI) program at Qatar University are:

    1.      Prepare graduates with AI expertise to drive innovation and contribute to the economic growth in Qatar, the region, and globally.

    2.      Empower graduates to solve real-world interdisciplinary challenges with AI.

    3.      Equip graduates to create ethical, sustainable, and socially responsible AI for the benefit of society.

     

    Program Learning Outcomes

    By the time of graduation, students will be able to:

    1.      Analyze a complex computing problem and apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.

    2.      Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.

    3.      Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts

    4.      Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles.

    5.      Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline.

    6.      Apply artificial intelligence theories, models, and techniques to design, implement, and evaluate AI-based solutions that solve complex problems.

     

    Opportunities

    The BSc in AI program gives graduates a wide range of distinguished career opportunities. AI graduates are sought after by almost all kinds of industries, including oil and gas, telecommunications, media, finance, government, and many others within Qatar, the region, and beyond. Examples of job titles include: AI Engineer, AI Developer, AI Architect, Machine Learning Engineer, Data Scientist, Data Analyst, and AI Researcher.

     

    Admissions Requirements

    1.      Students are admitted competitively and must have completed their secondary school certificate in a Science or a Technology track.

    2.      High school score not less than 70% for the general secondary education certificate or its equivalent according to the university regulations. Admission is based on the quality and depth of the applicant pool, the available capacity within the applicant’s intended major, and the high school subject grades.

    3.      Proficiency in English and Mathematics by satisfying the minimum competency requirements set by the University. For English, a minimum score of 5.5 in IELTS or 61 in TOEFL iBT. For Mathematics, a minimum score of 24 in ACT Math, or 550 in SAT (General Math Component- Old version), or 570 in SAT(General Math Component - New version).

    4.      Students who have not met the college minimum competency requirements may be admitted to the QU Foundation Program as engineering foundation students.

    Declaring the major

    Students must satisfy QU requirements for declaring a major, including the need to declare the major before completing 36 undergraduate credit hours. In addition, students must have either successfully completed all requirements of the Foundation Program or satisfied the University’s competency requirements. For more details about the University requirements for declaring the Major, please refer to the paragraph “Declaring the major” in Chapter 7 – Academic Policies and Regulations of this document. For the AI program, admission requirements include the following: GPA 2.5 or more, and completing GENG 106 or CMPS 151, with a grade of B or higher.

     

    DEGREE REQUIREMENTS - Major in Artificial Intelligence

    A minimum of 120 credit hours is required to complete the major in artificial intelligence, including the following:

    1.      A minimum of 33 credit hours in core curriculum requirements.

    2.      A minimum of 65 credit hours in major requirements.

    3.      A minimum of 12 credit hours in major elective requirements.

    4.      A minimum of 10 credit hours in college requirements.

    A minimum of 33 credit hours is required to complete the Core Curriculum Program as detailed below.
