    Minor in Nutrition



    The Minor in Nutrition program at Qatar University seeks to equip students with a foundational knowledge of the science of nutrition and its role in promoting optimal health, preventing disease, and enhancing quality of life. By integrating concepts from biological, chemical, and social sciences with advances in technology, the program promotes critical thinking, scientific literacy, and cultural awareness in addressing contemporary nutrition and food-related challenges across individual, community, and global contexts.



     



    Program Educational Objectives
    1. Demonstrate foundational knowledge of nutrition sciences and apply scientific reasoning to evaluate the relationship between diet, health, and disease.
    2. Promote sustainable and ethical health practices by using evidence-based nutrition, health, and technological advances.


     




    Program Learning Outcomes
    Upon completion of the Minor in Nutrition, students will be able to:
    1. Explain the evidence-based scientific principles underlying human nutrition and their application to health promotion and disease prevention.
    2. Describe the composition and functionality of foods, considering the effects of processing and emerging technologies on nutritional quality.
    3. Develop and effectively communicate evidence-based, culturally appropriate education material and products for different stages of life. 
    4. Use digital and professional tools to promote ethical, culturally sensitive, and sustainable nutrition, food and lifestyle practices.







     

    Admission Requirements

    Enrollment in the minor will be an option available to female students who are not majoring in Nutrition & Dietetics

    Students may complete the minor within or in addition to their degree requirements depending on their program of study.

    Admission requirements as per QU competency requirements. English proficiency: A minimum score of 5.5 in IELTS OR A minimum score of 61 in TOEFL OR ACCUPLACER ES.

    Acceptance depends on the department’s capacity, student academic performance and CV.

     
     




    18 CH Minor in Nutrition


    QU Students seeking to complete 18 CH minor in Nutrition must complete the following courses (with a minimum letter grade of “D” in each):
