Research Planning and Development Department

The Research Planning and Development Department is a cornerstone of the research and innovation ecosystem at Qatar University. The department aims to develop a distinguished research environment that enhances the quality of scientific research and supports innovation through integrated strategic planning and adherence to the highest standards of ethics and integrity. The department serves as an effective liaison between various entities within the university, contributing to the realization of its vision of entrepreneurial knowledge and research excellence.

The department is responsible for preparing and developing regulations, decisions/policies, and instructions, and for creating administrative initiatives in collaboration with decision-makers and stakeholders. This contributes to improving the quality of research output to meet the needs of society. It also relies on rigorous data analysis and research performance indicators, enabling the higher management to make effective strategic decisions that achieve the university's research priorities. The department continuously strives to build collaborative partnerships to improve the efficiency of research processes and ensure compliance with international standards.

As part of its commitment to excellence, the department is developing a comprehensive framework for evaluating research quality and impact, with a focus on the role of researchers in innovation and supporting sustainable development. Contributing to Strategic Planning

Participating in the development of strategic plans for the research sector in line with Qatar University's strategy.

Managing Performance Indicators

Monitoring and evaluating strategic performance indicators related to research and innovation to ensure the efficient and effective achievement of defined objectives.

Setting Research Priorities

Updating research priorities in accordance with Qatar University's strategy and the Qatar National Development Strategy.

Enhancing Research Quality and Impact

Developing and implementing an evaluation framework to measure research quality and productivity, and ensuring compliance with quality and integrity standards.

Developing Research Policies

Preparing and developing research regulations, decisions, policies, and guidelines, and evaluating their impact to enhance efficiency and quality.

Creating Administrative Initiatives

Promoting collaboration with stakeholders to develop initiatives related to enhancing research skills. Enhancing collaboration with decision-makers and engaging stakeholders regarding human resource development and improving the performance of services provided.

Supporting Research Ethics

Supporting compliance with ethical standards in scientific research and promoting collaboration with various institutions in this field.

Supporting Innovation and Intellectual Property

Providing support to the research community at Qatar University to protect intellectual property rights and contribute to the commercialization of these rights.
